how come when you have an important year long project to do for the final year of a 4 year uni course, you suddenly get all creative and decide to start really getting into writing your book. i wrote 3000 words the other morning, and im sure im supposed to be writing these words about how my very complicated product will work, when instead they seem to be about spaceships colliding with planets and soldiers being brutally slaughtered by monstrous aliens.

*reads the next paragraph* yup, no mention whatsoever of actually doing any work.

oh well, maybe i'll make my money being creative in books and crappy little pictures and doodles than being a product designer. or then again. maybe i'll be poor forever.

anyway yeah ive written the first chapter of my 1st X.A.R installation. its looking okay but needs lots of going over and re-working. i changed the monster since i wrote the opening paragraph, and have extended much more detail. hopefully by the end of this month i'll be happy with the chapter and can start on the next one. or maybe i'll put down the "how to be a decent product designer" and carry on with that all important second chapter... its very tempting

so whilst writing a bit more of X.A.R ive stumbled accross another idea for a sci-fi story. but i'll try not tolet it get in the ay of my writing of X.A.R

ok so i want to introduce you to some of the characters of X.A.R


main characters:

Zen - an 18yrold girl with an interesting left eye, which she keeps hidden under her jet
black hair (gabrielle style-ish) she is smart, strong and very loyal.

Onry - a 17yrold girl with long red hair. she is timid and shy, but very close friends with
Zen and Lan

Lan - a 20yrold boy who looks after the girls. he is very protective of them both.


Squad Z1:

Petre - squad leader

Desnik - Pilot

Mikhail - Heavy weapons

Jorvik - Demolitions (also newest member of group)

Andropov - unit's communications cyborg

Xanryx - sniper / scout

Greddik - officer assigned to squad to keep tabs on procedure.


secondary characters (so far):

Brogue - teenage recruit in the infantry

Sebastian Cheryn - university tutor of Zen and Onry



well thats as far as ive got with characters, i dont want to give anything away about the plot, or setting, or the characters real abilities. but let me know what you think about the ideas so far.

i have finally got a tablet!!

and i finally come up with a basic style for 2 of my main characters, out of 9, not bad.

hopefully now i can get on and improve on these basic figures and produce some progressively better work based around them

ive already drawn the basics for Zen, the main character, dont worry this wont be how she will look in the final thing, think of this a creative process in which i get better at drawing as time progresses (hopefully) and the characters evolve as i write more about them.

now all i need to do is start tackling bodies and clothing. not to mention making the charachters more 3d

Ive been a very lazy bee and havent done anything at all for months. so, i need to do some serious workage.

my book has progressed a little, and i have found some help on photoshop. all i need now is a tablet and i'll get on and do some illustration for the it.

until then, i may smarten up another snippet and put it on here. or scan some of the sketchwork for it.

hopefully it wont be terrible :S

so ive finally sat down to start my book.

i dont quite know whats going to happen in it, or how it will end, but ive got a scrapbook full of ideas and a brain full of scenes, characters and twists.

ive started doing some artwork for it, a museum scene and a landing shuttle have already been started, although they wont be finished untill i get some talent!!

when u see the museum dont be dissapointed to find the monster isnt scary at all, as there will be more to come when i get further into the book, hopefully it will provide me with some seriously disturbed inspiration for artwork.

i'll probably start to draw the characters next, it may take a while before they become digitized as i will need the use of a scanner or if im lucky i might finally get my hands on a tablet *crosses all fingers toes and limbs* its a hard life being a student hehe

by the way if anyone wants to throw ideas at me theyre welcome, plus keep critique coming on the artwork, as i really would like to make them all look good, and my artistic abilities can sometimes get in the way
